QROR rack Sixty-two track candidates reported to Mr. Wilhelm, track coach, late in March. There re several hold-overs from the previous ir and a highly successful season was ex- rted. This year the squad held four dual meets, ming all of them. They also placed fourth the District Meet at Muhlenburg Field, entown. The seniors won the annual interclass meet one lone point with t'Gump', Handwerk ding the seniors with ten points. The scor- ' was as follows: seniors, 383 juniors, 37g fhomores, 28, and freshmen, 7. n the opening interscholastic meet Palmer- defeated Lehighton to the score of 72-32. ump Handwerk again took high scoring iors with two first places for ten points. The imaus meet, which was its closest, was won Palmerton to the score of 58 1X3 - 56 2!3. The varsity selections for 1942 made by Mr. asehall 'almerton's baseball season did not end very rcessfully, the team winning but 2 of 6 nes and having its season cut short by k of transportation facilities. fn the 6 games, Palmerton amassed a grand al of 29 runs to its opponents' 41. However, e team had to go through the experience of ranging hands in the middle of the stream , during the middle of its season, Palmer- Us head baseball coach, Mr. J. C. Young s inducted into the navy, and Messrs. O. Blynn and G. W. Lutz assumed command co-coaches. 5almerton's first game of the season was a itest with Whitehall which ended 8-4 in 'or of the Zehyrs. Jack Clark and Philip :hardson did the losers' pitching, while inny Tomasic of the winners lasted the ,ole game. The entire game featured only ong hits, a double by Treskot of Palmerton i 2 doubles by Whitehall. In their next the Bombers edged out Slat- fton 2-1 with Clark and Richardson hurling ' the victors. The only long hit of the game s a two-bagger by Slatington. CLASS OF 1942 Wilhelm were as follows: Paul Bomba-pole vault, javeling Richard Bowman-javeling Harry Buhay-mile, Ger- hard Elm-Broad jump, Bruce Fields-sprints, 880 relay, Stinson Frantz-mile, Robert Hal- facre-880, mile relay, Lenard Halchevsky- 440, 8805 Robert Handwerk-880, mile, mile relay, Robert Hendricks-discus. Glenn Kresge-broad jump, sprints, mile relay, Kenneth Kuhla-Sprints, 880 relay, Karl Kummer-high jump, La Rue Leibenguth -pole vaultg William -Williams-high jump: Paul Skorinko-discus, shot put, Richard Smith-javeling Floyd Thaller-sprints, high jump, 880 relay, John Wask-440, 880, mile relay, William Williams-pole vault, Robert Wolfe-mile, and Frank Zeaka-440. The Seniors, who ended their track career on the Palmerton high team, are: Harry Buhay, Stinson Frantz, Robert Hand- werk, Glenn Kresge, and Floyd Thaller. The Blue-and-White nine then nosed out Lehighton 10-9 with Clark, Richardson, and Balliet doing the pitching. Again the only long hit was a double, this time by Donald Kresge of Palmerton. Palmerton then lost its last three games in succession, beginning with a return Slatington game. Clark and Richardson tossed for Pal- merton while Meagher oppossed them the whole game. A triple by Sobota of Palmerton was the sole long hit of the game. The second Palmerton loss was 10-6 to Northampton in a game featuring 2 home runs by the victors. The game ended finally with Charles Treskot, normally the first baseman, doing the pitching. In its season's last game the Blue Bombers were downed by Catasauqua 5-4 with Clark and Richardson again alternating on the mound. Todd's triple was the only long hit of the game. The players lost to Palmerton by gradua- tion are: James Kelly, Peter Ondrasik, Ed- ward Serfass, Jimmy Stribrany, and Charles Treskot. twenty-seven
