MIRROR CLASS OF 194 .fl 0 a kkii. 5-., s- . JOHN HAWK-Coming to Palmerton high school in his junior year, 'tJack played football in '41 and '42 and belonged to the gym club the same years. In his senior year Jack was elected to the Hi-Y club where he helped in the de- fense stamp sale. He plans to attend college, but has not yet decided which one. CARLIN HAYDT- Lefty , a Hi-Y mem- ber in '41 and '42, plans to Work after graduating from Palmerton high school. Pitching was Lefty's job on the base- ball team in '41 and '421 he also played one of the halfback positions on the foot- ball team in '42 after trying out in '40 and '41, MARGARET HAYTMAN- Peggy Work- ed on the wreath committee and on the Hallowe'en Social refreshment commit- tee. In her junior year she was an usher for Commencement, Baccalaureate, and District Chorus. Photography, bowling, and sewing are her hobbies, and she was in sewing club three years. After grad- uation she will take up nursing. BETTY HEINEY-This year Betty was a member of the senior class play ticket committee and sold wreaths at Christmas time. In her junior year she was on tne basketball team, played intramural bas- ketball, and served on the ticket and wrap committees for the Social. Her plans include nurses' training. tw GLENN HANDWERK-Very ambitious, Gunther was a member of the basket- ball and football refreshment committees, class gift committee, senior class play, baseball manager, Hi-Y, and assisted in the Hallowe'en Social. He was in cam- era, Mirror , and physics clubs and pro- fesses his hobby is chemistry. He plans to attend Lehigh. ROBERT H A N D W E R K - Our record- breaking miler the past four years, Gump was an assistant scout master and a member of the Hi-Y club. He helped with the Hallowe'en Social on the dance committee and belonged to bowling, leathercraft, and airplane clubs. His hobbies are camping and track, and he plans to attend college. MARGARET HARANKA-Margaret serv- ed as a member of the senior Christmas wreath committee, while in her junior year, she was on the Hallowe'en Social ticket committee. Sewing club interested her in her freshman and sophomore years, embroidery in her junior year, and nature club this year. Her plans are indefinite. ANN HARTFORD- Chick , a Hutist in clve our orchestra for three years, vice-presi- dent of the Tri-Hi-Y, and a member of the Mirror staff, still found time to be a cheerleader for two years. On the senior class play committee this year and a debater her sophomore year, Ann plans to attend Colby college.

W 29 RROR CLASS OF 1942. PAUL GERHARD-Most of the extra-cur- ricular activities did not appeal to Paul, an amateur radio fiend. He did accum- mulate a variety of clubs however. His choices were art '39, airplane '40, math '41 and special typing in '42, Paul is still undecided about his plans after graduation. BEULAH GETZ- Getzy , a member of the wreath committee, typed defense work, helped with the Hallowe'en So- cial and belonged to embroidery club her freshman, junior, and senior years, and to glee club her sophomore year. Roller skating and swimming are her hobbies. Beulah plans to be a steno- grapher or typist. GEORGE GILBERT- Chip of gas station fame has been in four different clubs in four yearsg he started in the junior sportsmen's clubg then he joined the cam- era clubg his junior year he was in math club, and he ended high school with rifle club. He plans to enter aviation. KATHRYN GREEN- Greenie served on the senior class Christmas Wreath com- mittee this year. In her junior year she was a member of the needlework club while this year the home economics club received her attention. At present Kath- ryn's plans after graduation are uncer- tain. 1 VERNA GREEN- Greenie was a typist for the Civilian Defense Committee and on the ticket committee for the senior class play. Home economics is the club that interested Verna in her final year. For her future plans, Verna intends to enter Henryts Beauty Culture School and graduate a full-fledged beautician. BETTY HAGENBUCH-Betty served on the Hallowe'en Social ticket and wrap committees. Having been transferred from Aquashicola school where she be- longed to cooking and literature clubs, she joined the needlework club her jun- ior and senior years in high school. Betty's hobbies are working crossword puzzles and reading. Her plans after graduation are indefinite. ALEX HALULKO- Muggs has been a member of the chess club two years. He definitely must have a liking for long walks as he is a Caddie in his spare time. Muggs plans to work at New Jersey Zinc Co. or perhaps he will enter the armed forces of Uncle Sam. JAMES HAMMOND- Jim , a Hi-Y mem-- eleven ber, ended up his senior year with a bang, working on the football and basketball refreshment committees, the senior prom committee, and participating in the sen- ior class play. James, who served on committees for the Hallowe'en Social and junior class party, has decided to bless Rutgers with his presence.

QROR EARL HENNING-Time will find Dutch in the United States Marines or Merchant Marine. He was a member of the foot- ball team his senior year. Junior sports- man's club was chosen by Earl in '39, '40 and '41, and industrial arts club rounded out his career this year. GLENN HEYDT- Angelo',, whose hobby is photography, made posters for the senior class play this year. During his junior year he participated in the Hallo- we'en Social by Working on the dance, novelty, wrap, and decorating commit- tees. After graduation he has decided to celebrate and then work. WILLIAM HOLZMAN- Holcy served on the junior class party ticket committee and helped make the Hallowe'en Social a success by assisting the refreshment committee. In regard to hobbies, he thinks bowling is tops. After having graduated Bill has decided to learn a trade. MILDRED HORN- Mi1ly,', a Tri-Hi-Y member for three years, served on the football refreshment, basketball refresh- ment, and announcement and name card committees her senior year. Class treas- urer her junior year, she was chairman of the wraps and novelty committees and served on the ticket committee for the Social. She plans to attend St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. CLASS OF 1942 VALERIA HREBICEK-'AVI-11 , a Tri-Hi-Y member, was a Mirror typist and an usher for the Christmas pageant. In her junior and senior years she took part in the operetta and acted as assistant busi- ness manager for the Mirror . She be- longed to glee club three years and sew- ing club this year. Valeria plans to attend Strayer's Business College. TONY JERINGO- Neno plans to assist his father in their coal business after graduation. He acted as his homeroom president in '42 and was kept busy by the senior class refreshment and Wreath com- mittees his senior year. Math club en- tertained Tony in '42 or was it vice versa? MICHAEL KAKALEJCIK- Kack'l, one of the famous Blue Ridge Country Club caddies, has the unusual hobby of study- ing aircraft. Besides entering the chess and junior sportsmens' clubs his fresh- man year, Mike also played football that year. His plans for the future are still undecided. KARL KEIPER-'tPete , who participated in football his sophomore and junior years, works as a paper carrier and trac- tor driver outside school. For hobbies he likes hunting, target shooting, and over- hauling and greasing his car. He plans to enter trade school or might possibly join the army. thirteen
