' Maine ' The School of Fine Arts presented the musical hit Mame April 20-22, 1978 u nder the direction of Dr. Thomas K. Heino, associate professor of theatre. Based on the novel Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis and the play by Lawrence and Lee, the musical centers on the life of the eccentric Auntie Mame Dennis and her nephew Patrick. The lead role was played by Lou Williford, Dallas junior. Other principal characters included Vera Charles, played by Jill Turnbow; Agnes Gooch, portrayed by Melissa Anne McMillan; and Patrick Dennis, played by Craig Rainey and Steve K. Horn. Music directors for the production were Shirley Watter- ston and Dr. W. M. Turner. Tommy Matthys designed the scenes and lighting and Cynthia Hoffmaster did the chore- ography. I 7 h ' t I f
