Its specialized courses prepare students for positions as teachers of vocational agriculture, county agents, soil conservation workers and field representatives for feed, seed and fertilizer companies. Other courses train students for careers as owner-operator farmers. Stephen F. Austin State College was approved in 1950 for the training of vocational agriculture teachers by the State Board for Vocational Agriculture. 25
