FACULTY TEACHING PLUS The faculty and staff at Stephen F. Austin had more to accomplish then academic excellence in the classroom. To strengthen the academic pro- gram, contributions to extra curricular activities was essential. Some of the programs provided in 1988-89 were the ttChristmas in the Air8 concert, ttAll City Bandtt concert, St. Elizabethts ttSpinal Cord Injl-ry program, ttGeography Beef and a schoolwide spelling bee. The faculty produced plays, sports activities, attended tournaments, assisted students in pro- viding food for needy families, supported ac- ademic programs, and put studenfs works on, display. They also traveled to gain new expe- riences to be passed on to the students. News- letters and aWards were created, ticket booths manned, andvparents were mailed positive let- ters about their children. The faculty and staff worked extra hours dur- ing 88-89 and these were the reasons that Austin is a class above the best. mmeam
