Temwmw Our school days are almost over. Graduation will soon be here, for the seniors of ,84, a new life begins. Now we have important decisions to make about our future plans. Will we seek to try and find a business or a trade? We will take along skills we learned at S.F.A. with new things we learn along the way. Seniors parties, pep rallies, bonfires, and our friends will all be missed but not forgotten. We have new experiences to conquer and a new path to follow. Where will it lead us? No one knows. We, the Seniors of 84, leave behind us many of our academic abilities, athletes who set records, leaders who directed us, and class clowns who made this year worth it. We take with us the leaders of tomorrow hoping to achieve a final goal and reach our highest dream. It requires patience, tender care, love, and many hours of hard work Mrs. Mary Andrus has tended her garden at home and at school in just such a manner. She is responsible for planting the seeds from which the Austinaires have grown. They have known no other gar arend n1'.e Prior to coming to Stephen F. Austin, Mrs An dru ' ' ' hr ief'lv at nmnanfinlrl and later directed the Bishop Byme Colleens. In 1967 she joined our faculty and began her dream of forming a drill team at Austin. On June lst Mrs. Andrus will retire from her duties as teacher, former coach, and director of the Austinaires. Everyone who is acquainted with this fine lady will greatly miss her, but we are all better pe0r ple for having known her. I have watched her unselfMirshly spend her time her money, and her energy directing the lst love of her life - the Austinaires. Un er her guidance the drill team has grown from a tiny seedling into an organization which is well-known and respected throughout the Golden Triangle. Yet she still finds time for her family and friends. Mrs. Andrus and I have been close friends, coach 5, and teachers together for 13 years. We've laughed together and we,ve cried together. She,s taught me to be dedicated to duty, to treasure true friendship, and to appreciate the dawn of each new day Mr: Amime 1'0 ' 1' 'i tend the lovely garden of her life. It 1s filled with lush green and flowering plants, a beautiful home, two successful children, a lovingh usband, and a host of friends. In her hands each will continue to be pruned with tender, loving care. The drill team will continue to flourish, even in her a sence, it w build u on I love this lady and I hope you have had the extraordinary experience of sharing a part of her life. I have heard it said that you can't depart from a place without leaving a part of yourself behind. Mrs. Andrus will do just that. Her history and the history of the drill team will be with us always.
