PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS Puma W M ildred Swafford After 25 years of unselfish giving and listening to others' problems. Mrso Mildred Swafford is retiring What better tribute to leave behind than the knowl- edge that you are well-loved and well-remembered by at least two generations of Austin students and fac- ulty members! Mrs. Swafford remarked that she will be leaving a great deal of her life behind at SFA and that she has htmixed emotions about leaving Austin. Mrs. Swafford came to SFA in I952. Before that. she was a plant nurse at Texaco. Originally from Alabama. she received her training at Annister Memorial Hospital and also at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. During World War 11, she spent a year at an army bomber plant because Whey thought they were going to have to draft nurses, With her newly-acquired leisure time. Mrso Swaf- ford plans to pursue her hobby W collecting Avon bottles 7 travel with her husband in their Merry Miler bus. and ttspoil her eight grandchildren. J uliee Dorman Msi Juliee Dorman. a 1972 graduate of Stephen F Austin began what was 10 be an enduring relation- ship with SFA at age 5. Undoubtedly. her cheerleader experiences in high school began with this very early premiere as one of the varsity Cheerleaderis mascots, Her involvement with Austin continues today for Ms. Dorman is now SFA's Activities Director. Ms Dormun attended hothjunior and senior high school at Austin and actively participated in Austi- naires and cheerleading. During her junior year of high school. she was chosen Girls' State Representa- tive: and. during her senior year. she was selected Head Cheerleader and Football Sweetheart.
