' EDITORS9 NOTE w-wm - The volume 6f sand in an hour glass is relatively small when compared to all the sand on all the thousands of beaches. If all this sandye combined to construct a sand clock to measure the time elapsed since the creation of the earth, the supply d fall short of the demand. The time' spent in school is perhaps the most memorable to each individual, though it represents only about one-seventh of our life. Each person's' life-Epan consists of an exact number of grains passing through the imagmarumrclodt. as does the life-span of every thing. For this reason Sands of Time . has been ohosengs the theme for the '67 Eagle. PORT ARTHUR. '1 nus PUBLIC ummmr h Co-Editors, Bob Purgahn ; Cathy Broussard nkxaiieiizkt . Dedication The 1967 Annual Staff is proud to dedicate the Eglito Miss Alice Kethley. Upon graduation she went to Lamar Tech College for two yelrs, finishing her last two years of college at Sam Houston. She received her B.S. Degree in history in 1956. Her first teaching job was in Warren, Texas, where she taught four years and sponsored the yearbook. Her love for travel led her to Okinawa with the American Dependent Schools. During holidays and vacations, she traveled to such places as Madrid, Rome, Venice, Genoa, Amsterdam, Paris, and London. After two years had elapsed Miss Kethley joumeyed to Anchorage, Alaska, where she taught in Fort Richardson. One year later found her training for the Peace Corp. Mr. Hallmark helped to boost the football spirit and to guide the people of Port Acres to sup- port their team. He set an example as an enthusiastic fan and loyal supporter of a team and the young men who played on it. A good fan is just as valuable as a good player, and Mr. Hall- mark is rated as one of the best. aw w- t V a-vAV-U ,1 It is not just eleven men that make the football team. Every fan's heart skips and Ex- Eagles get misty-eyed at the sight of our Eagles being ushered in by the cheerleaders. 66 The scores below do not indicate the hard work and efforts our Stephen F. Austin Eagles put forth. Today, the importance of being State Champs is greatly stressed, but winning the game is not important, it's how the game is played. Of course the team wants to be the champions and they practice long hours to try and achieve their goal. Everyone can't be champions and so we must all accept disappointment. No one can be more disappointed than the team who has put forth their all. When a team loses a game, it not only feels that it has let themselves down but feels that it has let the fans down too. We are proud of our team and our coaches, and we think our boys gave forth their best and did a very fine job. 1966 Football Schedule Sept. 8 Bishop Byrne ------ 14 Pt. In Memory of Charles Adams A MAN IN HIS YOUTH Charles Tommy Adams died in the springtime of his life. One might say he was picked before he realized the full bloom of manhood, the summer years. Though Charles left this good earth at the age of 18, his accomplishments are equal to those of most men. He lived those eighteen years in a manner becoming to any individual. Charles left many friends behind him, but his death gave everyone an example for living. SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS: Tommy Chambers, Vice-President; David Killian.
