DEDICATION Down here in our part of the swamp, a place called Okefenokee (it's sort of back- woods, but nice), we have a schoolmaster named Owl. He is forever and always try- ing to get us to work and become edu- cated, but with us not having any use for work we're not much in favor of the idea. Besides nobody knows just what being educated means. A while back a rumor got around that he used to be prin- cipal in a place called Stephen F. Austin High School under the name of H. W. Cook. Nobody believes it, though, because you know how rumors can get around. Now it seems that the students there really appreciated him and all of his hard work. He was always ready to help them when they needed it, and on the whole was just about the nicest person you could imagine. Come to think of it, maybe these rumors were true after all. THEIR STUPIDITY 16 60 PBN6B THAT ONLY BY POOLING OUR BRAIN5 CAN WE CRACK THE PREVAILING IGNORANCE.,

FOREWORD Things being a little dull, we decided to liven up this institution by inviting a fellow named Pogo from Okefenokee Swamp to enroll here. (Mr. Kelly, Pogo's boss, said we could use his characters if we promised to give them back.) Pogo is the latest creation in the great line of American humor that stretches from Artemus Ward to Mark Twain to Walt Kelly. The staff is proud to present to you this year's BRONCO. Say, what year is this, anyway?
