SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS ' President Vice-President Secretary .... Treasurer .... Reporter GROVER WHITE JESSIE THOMAS GEORGE SINGLETARY LILA FAE VANCE RUTH BEARD CLASS HISTORY In the fall of ’30, ninety-five stray scholars, the class of ’34, entered the doors of Stephen F. Austin High School. Branded as Freshmen after their first appearance, they retained the reputation that they had received in Travis and Bowie — that of being the noisiest class ever finishing gramrner school.” Despite their noisy character, they fought valiently against their enemies of Algebra, History, Science, and, the biggest one, English. Most of them won the battle, but some lost and had to drop back. Entering the second year as Sophomores, they, with new comrades, fought more battles. Some of the members played football and basketball; some represented S. F. A. in the Interscholastic League; and some probably, helped play April Fool pranks. At Commencement others of the class received high honors for good service. Juniors! didn’t that sound big? Seventy-five of them entered the third lap of their high school tducation. Trials and tribulations were theirs throughout the year. About mid-term they entertained their upper-classmen, the Seniors, with a royal banquet. On Baccalaureate Day the boys of the third year class escorted the graduates of ’33 to their seats of honor in the First Methodist Church. Five Junior girls gained places on the National Honor Society, and at Commencement the class was represented by members who there also received high honors. At hast the name of Seniors was tacked upon the backs of sixty-eight students who entered their fourth year of high school training. Although there were new faces in the group, some of those who had begun the journey as Freshmen had dropped out. New trials laced every member of the class. The rings made their appearance in October —a reality which added to the sophistication of the Seniors. In February the photographer had to keep a look out on his camera when the class had their pictures taken. Invitations to Commencement were ordered so that the graduates might receive some reward for the four years of many efforts. The Bronco” left the record of the other merits of the class of 1034.
