Loewen PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE “That ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” Col. 1:9. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be a- shamed rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim. 2:15. The Board of Directors held thirteen meetings during the year to direct the business of the Academy. This business has been that regarding its financial means, the improvement of the buildings, the improving of the educational possi¬ bilities for the students, informing all Christians in the community of the Aca¬ demy’s needs, its work, and the work done by the students who have already gone to their field of service. They are the crown of the Academy. We are well aware that the devil is doing his utmost to use Christians and others to speak slanderingly about any Christian activity in order to discourage the young people from taking up the work to which the Lord has called them. Sometimes we also notice that we are not concerned to uphold our doctrinal pi in- ciples. I am confident that the more you will study the part our people played in the world in the last century, the more you will appreciate these principles. For example look to the educational system of America which is the best in the world. The six main essays on pedagogy were written in 1750, by Christopher Dock, a Mennonite school teacher. (He died on his knees while praying.) Dear people, let not what our fore¬ fathers have done fill our hearts with vain pride, but let us urge our young people to make use of the opportunities offered to prepare for the service of the Lord.
