After a thorough study in the classroom of each group of states, the children showed much interest and used their initiative in planning individual projects. Each child prepared reports on his chosen state, bringing in interesting ideas from his own experiences and research readings. As interest grew, the group decided to illustrate the infor- mation gained by building original floats for the Parade of States . These floats were built outside class or in overtime periods and each proved very informative. Correlation of creative arts and language arts culminated in a remarkable display of miniature floats, depicting various phases of the social, economic, industrial, and cultural life as lived in these United States.
