Bonnie Jacko Reigns as Homecoming Queen Bonnie Jacko and John Hofmeister The crowning of our Queen. Homecoming '83 Homecoming at Steel Valley is quite unique from other schools. Several candidates are chosen to represent the various organizations within the school. Each candidate selects a senior boy for her escort. The candidates design posters and decorate cars. Prizes are presented for the most original and most creatively decorated cars and posters. During the week before Homecoming, much excitement builds up throughout the school. The events of the week, which include dress-up day, maroon and gold day, the meet the candidates assembly and voting for the Homecoming Queen, stimulate everyone to become involved. Before the game, on Homecoming day spec- tators line up to watch the parade of decorated cars. At half time of the football game, the candidates and their escorts are introduced as they walk across the field. A moment of anxiety arises among those on the field as well as those in the crowd, until the long awaited moment arrives and the Homecoming Queen and her court are presented. Although each year new people, new ideas and new themes change the face of Homecoming, it always brings back special memories.
