H.. it 5 , 'ff Q The beach is beautiful at twilight when shades of purple and pink streak the hori- zon. This is dream time, a pause to let the sand in an hour glass run imchecked and unkept as our thoughts drift forward. A misty haze forms over a glassy sea and we observe in awe as the future looms before us, not clearly, but with the promise of things to come. A gust of wind disturbs the haze andwe are shocked to see an ultra-modern city. Why, it's Fayetteville! An unveiling ceremony is taking place with MayorAl Hubbard presiding. Shh .... listen. On this first day of June, nineteen hundred seventy eight, I take great pride in unveiling this bronze statue of our recently deceased President of the United States, Victor Hall, who was shot while trying to cheat at cards. The person responsible, Gerald Bailey, has been given life in Alcatraz, where Norman Kirby is the warden. The statue will be placed in city hall. We can see that our busy city editor, Herky Ledbetter, has no time to tarry, but he snatches aglimpse of the ceremony from the doorway. He holds a copy of the pa- per in his hands. The headlines read: NEW YORK YANKS WIN! In important sup- porting roles with DougMaxwe1l, our star hurler, were Roy Abbott, afleetfooted cen- ter fielder, and T. J. Haire, the hardhitting third baseman. On page two we find blazing headlines featuring La Verne Carell better known to us as La Verne Nunnery, starring in the new broadway hit No Time For Love , pro- duced by Carmon Bullard and directed by Bill Reis, co -starring William Jackson and Oren O'Neal. X In the funnies we find that the new comic strip--DOPY..has been caricatured by Marion Bullard. He obtained his ideas from the mannerisms of Delmar Hollings- worth . Here on the last page David Bedso1e's name stands out. When the moon rocket was built, our friend David forgot to vacate so he is on his way to the moon. The variety section reveals to us the talents of many of our graduates. Nell Canady has launched her singing career through her appearance in the opera Bec- cichi. Irvin Guy and Rosco Bullard have teamed as a duet and are touring the country. ,X Meakie, Joann, and Faye Bullard make a pretty trio andtheir voices match their ap- pearance. ' T WW There is only a small ad about the Country Fairgbut as we lay our paper aside and 4, if A journey to the fair grounds, our thoughts are of the side shows we shall view.
