At the time of the completion of the first year in the new high school building, it seems appropriate to make a few statements in this regard. The building is an achievement by the Board of Education and the people of this community based on planning and work over a period beginning with the appointment on March 6, 1962, of a committee of the School Advisory Coun- cil to study the future needs of the school system for buildings. (One member of the present Board of Edu- cation was on this committee.) From March 1962 to the present, the Board of Education, school adminis- tration, faculty, members of the Advisory Council, and other interested members of the district have given time and energy to make the present new build- ing a reality. The entire school district indicated their support in this achievement by carrying the bond election by a substantial majority on the first attempt. The building is dedicated to all of the children who will attend Steamboat Springs High School and it should be noted that there may be persons yet unborn who will help pay for the building.
