AILORS LOG 1964 STEAMBOAT SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO BUD WERNER 1936-1964 a great athlete; a fearless competitor; a gentleman of the highest esteem; truly the finest ambassador the sport of skiing has ever had. yr . . . THOSE WHO SERVE US . . . MRS. CRUSE ISIDRO ARROYO MRS. SCHNACKENBERG TED BARNES MERLE CHEEK Principal CLARENCE GARDNER SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE In writing a message to the class of 1964 two ideas come to mind. The first of these has to do with your future vocation or occupation. Of course the choice of a pro- fession or occupation is important. But more important still is this advice. Get all of the preparation you can now. Many of the occupations which you will encounter in your lifetime do not exist at this time. This makes it most important for you to get as much general education as you can now. The second of these has to do with your own personal conduct. In spite of the rapid changes in science, space flight, mathematics, automation, and many other things, two very old statements are still the best guides to conduct. They are the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. May each of you be blessed with many successes and much happiness. MRS. BROWN Home Economics MR. CHASTEEN English, Journalism MRS. This is the picture that comes to me: A high school is people - teenagers and all. It's assemblies and classes and a rush in the hall. It’s a panic at grade cards; it's red and white; It’s thrills and excitement that carry to the night. Suspense fills the hallways and rivalry’s keen All yearn for a scholarship, who will be Queen? A high school means projects and clubs with fun, And everyone working till all tasks are done; Tense moments at games - Will we win or not? That Fight Sailor spirit means more than we thought! What is a high school? What is a story? We’ve told it here in all its glory! YOUR STUDENT COUNCIL Vice President - Bruce Richards, Secretary - Ruth Schnackenberg, President - John Troms- ness.
