Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1962 volume:

Dedication Once in a while, in this busy world, we meet someone who takes time for others. We seldom realize how much time and effort these people put into our relationships. Miss Stevenson, we think you are one of these rare people, and are grateful for the long hours you devote to the betterment of our school and to us as individuals. We appreciate the fact there is someone who worries about us, sympa- thizes with us, and helps us. From assisting a student, to congratulating an athlete, we know you're behind us. For all of these qualities which you represent to us, we, of the 1962 Sailor's Log Staff, dedicate this annual to you, Miss Stevenson. OFFICE STAFF School Board DR. ROBERT L. KULP - Treasurer LLOYD R. WILLIAMS - Vice President MARVIN L. BROWN - President OLIVER W. BARTHOLOMEW - Secretary WILLIAM J. LUBY - Director Superintendent's Message to the Class of 1962 In a year when men are flying in space, when plans are being made to fly to the moon and to other planets, when men fear their own scientific creations but continue to make more horrible destructive in- struments, it maybe difficult for a high school gradu- ate to decide upon a career. All people, particularly youth, yearn for a career of service. This yearning unfulfilled leaves life a compromise breeding rest- lessness and dissatisfaction. 3ut pursued unflaggingly, it creates a spiritual uplift which can take us from the morass to the stars. A career which renders ser- vice to mankind will always be satisfying and satis- factory. May God bless each of you and each of the careers you undertake. GEORGE P. SAUER Superintendent of Schools Principals Message The advancement and changes which have taken place within your lifetime have been far greater and far more significant than all the changes and advance- ments of the first half of the 20th century. Your high school education is only a small part of the total education which you will need in order to keep abreast of, and to handle, the knowledge and achievements that you have. My most sincere hope is that you realize that education is a never ending affair, and that it takes place both inside and outside of a college or school. CLARENCE GARDNER Principal MRS. BUTLER MRS.
