SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE DEDICATION It is an unusual privilege for me to write this message and offer my best wishes to theClassof 1957. Ihave a special feel- ing for this class, most of the members of which I have known for the past twelve years. My message to this classis the message I would give my son as he grad- uates from high school. Remember that men and women are just boys and girls - in many instances not quite grown up. The future of America holds for its youth exactly what its youth makes it. Youth will reap exactly what it sows. We must learn from the pages of history that there is no handicap that cannot be overcome by will-power, patience and applica- tion. Mental and physical discipline will fit you to meet any of the problems of the future. The Golden Rule, The Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount are still our best guides. Every- thing good is included in my wish to you, Class of 1957. George P. Sauer Supt. of Schools □ We dedicate this 1957 yearbook to our inspiring guide, Mr. Sauer. His untiring ef- forts to improve our school and broaden our outlook-‘on(li P are greatly appreciated by Ls' evoted interest in the new grade each one of us. TO THE GRADUATING SENIORS OF 1957: You are to be commended upon the achieve- ments that you have thus far accomplished. It is my hope that you will go forward after graduation in whatever path of life you choose. But whatever path you choose, make your life an honor- able one; ayouthfulone; a vigorous one; and one in which your ideals are ever present and are always a goal to be attained. Remember, as General Douglas MacArthur once said, Youth is not entirely a time of life - it is a state of mind.. .It is a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions... People grow old only by deserting their ideals...You are as young as your hope, as old as your despair.. .When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then and then only are you grown old...
