“Class Ill tor Sentember, l9hh, twelve years ago, Miss Francis Smith greeted fourteen scared little kids at the first grade door. The fourteen were Edward Christians, Glenn DeVries, Marilyn and Marlyn Ellison, Laverne Freese, Jessie Hanson, Suzanne Harper, Joe Knight, Ronald Loewen, Karen Luiken, Patricia Luiken Bonnie Pierson, Merlyn Rosburg, and Lyle Steinfeldt. Patricia Luiken decided to go traveling and left at the end of the first semester. Suzanne Harner, Marilyn and Marlyn Ellison also left us. We didn't mind coming to school our second year, by 1 we were old hands at it. Again Miss Smith was our teacher. Our class grew ---- there were fifteen of us. Adeline Maronn and John Frerichs joined us at the beginning of the year while some country hicks, namely Jo Ann Hunger, Alle Jassers, and Ivan Jasoers, joined the second six weeks. At the beginning of the second semester Pat Luiken, who had otten tired of traveling, returned bringing a friend, iimmie Holder. Laverne Freese attended only the first sem- ester, than decided to find something new and different. Miss Lois Jasoers guided us through 3rd grade. Shirley Kruse, Marcia Looft, Connie Krominga came to Steamboat Rock, and Richard and Ronald Loewen moved away. y In the fourth grade, 19b7-48, our little group led by Mrs. Herman Primus consisted of dm.following upils: Jessie Hanson, Karen Luiken, Patricia Luiken, Bonnie gierson, Merlyn Rosburg, Lyle Steinfeldt, Jimmie Holder, Shirley Kruse, Jo- Ann Eunger, Alle Jaspers, Ivan Jasners, and John Frerichs. Marcia Looft, Adeline Maronn, and Connie Krominga found new paths and departed. ' I The fifth year of school was an exciting one because we .were about halfway up the ladder of our education. With Mrs. Evelyn Calloway as our guide, we received a great amount of knowledge although there were many bumps and bruises along the way. We gained two new members who had been lost, Wiired Buhr and Phyllis Boll. Mrs. Calloway was also our sixth grade teacher. This year we gained two more members, Marlene Wikert and Eldon Miller. Both had come from different paths and wished to i jo n us. Lyle Steinfeldt became bored and set out to find something more exciting. In the seventh grade wewere guided by Mr. Lowell Uskrat from whom we learned quite a bit. Wilfred Buhr left us, and Roxine Richard came for one semester, but preceded on to dnh ferent tours of knowledge the second semester- As weentered the eighth grade we felt very big for just one more jump and we would be in high school. That year Alan- Hudspeth joined our crew. Rolland Heard also joined our troup. Jessie Hanson was reported to nave found something more interesting and left us. That year we were guided by Mr. Jack Stowell. Our freshman year was exciting especialy at the time of initiation. Mrs. Lillian Brown had charge of us. This vear we only nad one new member teaming up with us, namely Arlene Mudderman who had just completed eight years of training on a differently guided tour.
