“CARL HATCH Football 1 2 3 h, Baseball 1 2 3 h, Track l 2 3 h, Letterman 2 3 h, Spanish Club 3, Archery Club h ELEANOR KIRSCH Transfer from Cascade ifD'FYr'f FTD-D'fFiX-IETYYSVYYI I I ffififfililliifiiIYl?'Dl7'D'ED'DiIIiifD'D'D'D'D'D'D' U66 The class of 1953 has always been a booster in all activities They've sponsored many different activities, school parties, class picnics, and skating parties, and they have supported many other ac tivities Like all freshmen, we had our share of initiation By the time we were sophomores, we had moved to the new high school Our sophomore lay Day prince sses were Shirley linten and Ida Blackburn Instead of our regular school carnival we had a school party The mighty sophomores won most of the games so their prince ss, Sally Studnick, was crowned Queen Royalty came also in our second year to Jim Frichtl,who was elected King of Hearts at the Val- entine Party. The class had a pic- nig at Silver Creek Falls at year's en . Our junior year was another successful one. Sherry Spaniol and Carol Courtney were elected may Day princesses. One big success in our junior year was sponsoring the or- iginal twirp eason at Stayton High Each class had a candidate, but Rod Klecker won and was crowned King Twirp. The junior-senior prom was another major event. With the theme Adfory 'Garden in the Rainn, the gym was beautifully decorated and the prom was really a success One of the best plays of the year was our 'Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court', and all-costume play I a contest held between the classes for the honor of publishing the best school paper, our class won Now is our big year, we are the mighty seniors In and all school election Sally Studnick became May Day Queen and Sherry Spaniel and Shirley Minten, May Day princesses One of the major events of our senior year was the first winter formal in the history of Stayton High With Christmas decorat ions and the theme, 'Winter Wonder land', the winter formal was a high spot in the school year. Each class had two princesses, but we elected ' Colleen Hales the queen. -Another big success was the senior play, 'One Foot in Heaven', again one of the best plays of the year. Our skit for the Christmas program with Lloyd Geraths as Grandma sell- ing soap and reading 'The Night Be- fore Christmas' was a winner. Although we are going to miss high school life, we are looking forward to graduation on lay 22, and Senior Skip Day to Seaside.
