kt SOPHOMGRE CLASS HISTORY On September 16, 1946, fifty-eight students enrolled into the Sohhomore class, taking up another year of High School Activity. During the first class meeting Mr. French was chosen Class Advisor and the other various officers as follows: Truman McClellan. . . .President Donavon Stewart . . . .Vice President Phyllis Wallen. . . .Treasury Kay Cunningham. . . .Secretary Marilene Frichtl. . . . . . . . . .Student Body Rep. Eylng the Freshman as they dazedly wandered around, the Sophomores began plotting their initiation. Those on the committee were--Jerry Hunter, Donna Lee Greer, Phyllis Wordon, Karlyne Schieman, Billy Covert, and Kenneth Morris That evening after the initiation, the Sophomores gave the Freshman a coming out party, receiving them as fellow students. In order to supply funds for the class treasury the Sophomores sold hot-dogs at the Stayton basket-ball games. At a student body assembly two Sophomore girls, Betty Mason and Jeannine Bentley were elected School Band Major- ettes after a group of tryouts. P NONSENSE If a rapid fire of popping To your ear through the corridors come, Don't be scaredg you needn't run It's only Marilene F. chewing her gum Donavon Stewart is campaigning on the most important project of his life. -That is he's try- ing to equip the halls with easy chairs to make the spare time he spends there more comfortable. Our class is as studious as can be We never get noisy or rough. It's so quiet you can always hear a pin drop Providing it's large and heavy enough. ,fx
