X. WU SENIOR CLASS PROPHECYZCONTINUED strip character in the Stayton Mail. We found her busy and happy, and had a nice visit. As we left the Stayton Mail office, a bus drove up and parked in front of the bus-depot across the street. A tall, husky man stepped off and was immediately surrounded by a noisy, admiring crowd. Burdette, with the nose of a true newshound, practically flew across the street, and I had trou- ble keeping up with him. It was Wayne Lierman, the famous heavy-weight boxing champion. As we came up I heard him say- ing, NI owe all my success to Dale Hopper, my manager.N Dale always could talk faster than a bird flies. , , After a short visit we consulted the newspaper files and compared bits of information until we had located every member of the class of 1947. We found that Fon Brown is running for the governorship of Utah. He has served two terms in the State Legislature, one term in Congress and one term in the State Peniteniarya- Cwarden, that isl. Considering his record, I think he is well qualified for the job. Naomi Morgan is his secretary at the moment, but rumor has it that when the election is over they are going to be married. Then she will keep track of his hours at home, too. Glenn Archibald is a big game hunter. He got in trouble last week with the police. You see, he attended a modeling show with his wife, and accidentally shot Doris Van Handel. She was wearing a fur coat and he forgot where he was. Accord- ing to the latest reports the coat has abig hole in its side, Glenn has a black eye which he got resisting an officer, but Doris was unharmed. A We found Carol Titus on the Society page. She and her husband, a very successful business man, are entertaining a few friends at their home. Among the guests were Barbara Smith, and her husband, who is the geometry teacher at the new high school. , f After a little research, we discovered Eldon Jordan and Lois Blum in Hollywood. They are one of the greatest fancy dance teams in the United States. They are hailed by the critics as Nthat u tiring team--full of pep, new jokes, dance steps--never to grow oldln Q Also in Hollywood is Mabel Hougardy. She was chosen as Miss Oregon a few years ago. As a result of that contest she went to Hollywood and took a screen test. Her latest picture is now playing at the Star Theater in Stayton. It is rated as wonderful entertainment.l ' X J

Also, I leave my lit- tle brother to carry on. I, Clinton Wilson, will ability to think of a joke when one is needed and sometimes when one isn't needed to Roberta Reiger. Finally we do hereby name and appoint as the sole execu- tor of this, our last will and testament, our class advisor, Mr. Burton. In witness whereof, we, the Class of 1947, The Testator, have set our hand and seal on this day of June in the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Forty-seven. n SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Last week, while looking through an old high school an- nual I began to wonder whatever became of the class of 1947. So the very next day I packed my bags, hired a helicopter, and headed west--destination: Stayton, Oregon. Arriving there within a couple of hours, I landed the helicopter on the top of a building, rode the elevator down to street level, and there hesitated a moment in doubt. I didn't know what to do next. The thriving metropolis of Stay- ton that now confronted me was very unlike the Stayton I once knew. As I stood there I noticed a man approaching through the crowd, He seemed to recognize me and in a moment I recog- nized him, too. It was Burdette Rice. To my surprise I found that he was the owner and manager of the Stayton Mail, one of the largest newspapers in the state of Oregon. When I told him that I was trying to locate all of our classmates, he of- fered to help, saying that some were still in and around Stay- ton. M On this same block stands the home and business estab- lishment of Normalene Lynch and Alfreda Kenley. They sell rare and beautiful flowers. Neither have married, although they both have countless suitors. We went to the Stayton Mail office to see Rose Shaffer, who is the originator of nHandsome Henry,n the famous comic fd thgiif

Everything runs too smoothly nowadays. Ronnie Johnson is head janitor at Stayton High School. He picked up the papers and swept the shop so much while in high school, that he decided he liked the job. His policy is to throw the paper into the street rather than the waste- basket, so the street cleaner can take over from there. His invaluable assistant is Bob Freres. Laura Fery is a airplane hostess. She earned no little fame a couple months ago when her plane crashed in a lonely part of the mountains.
