On November 20, ten selected students went to the Illinois• •T Music Association Concert. The fall concert with the SHS band was held November 22. Darla Banovic had a solo entitled V “Hallelujah . The annual Christmas Vespers was held on December 13. On February 3,4, and 5, the IMEA concert was held jn Jacksonville. Michelle Landrum was chosen as one of the 125 Illinois music students to sing in the All-State Chorus in i Springfield. On March 22, they held a concert for the Junior Service Club. The IHSA State Concert was held on April 23. • The spring show on May 17 contained selections from Godspeli. The team placed 8th out of 12 teams in the Regional tourna- ment. They shot a score of 361. Kevin Schulmeister shot a 80 which sent him to sectionals. 39 40 1983 Seniors On October 16th the Band came home from the Eastern Illinois Marching Band Contest with the trophy and honor of Most Out- standing Band in Class C. They also brought home the 2nd place Rifle certificate, 3rd place Flag certificate, 3rd place Drum Major certificate, and the Percussion Unit received the 1st place plaque. We come in fourth place at the Conference meet in Gillespie. The girls placed fourth in the Sectional track meet at Jack- sonville. Staunton had three girls qualify for the State track meet held at Eastern Illinois University. They were Lynn Yakos in high jump, Lee Karl in the shot, and Darla Sievers in the 400 meter dash.
