NEUMANN This 1981 -82 yearbook is dedicated to the advisor who has spent 8 years helping design yearbooks — Mrs. Neumann. Being the advisor is a very time-consuming job. It takes a special person to devote so much time and energy to the yearbook. At times when it seemed as though everyone else wanted to give up on the book, Mrs. Neumann had encouraging words for her staff. Just because there were problems with pictures and meeting deadlines, photographers and yearbook companies she never gave up, but, instead, always tried to make the next year’s book even better. Mrs. Neumann has done a fantastic job as yearbook advisor and her efforts have been greatly appreciated by both past and present staff members. Next year’s staff looks forward to working with Mrs. Sanvi as their new advisor. Once again, a big thank-you goes out to Mrs. Neumann for her patience and dedication that were given so willingly by her. With Much Appreciation, The “Echo” Staff 7 Row 1: Shawn Bates. Jim Coyne. This is not one of the better records of the past few years, but Mr. Kuba has a young team that shows a lot of promise. For the first time ever at SHS, we had a girl eligible to play in the sectional tournament. Patti Ruffini qualified for the I.H.S.A. sectional tournament by placing third in the girls' district tournament. FOOTBALL Back: Coach Deist. Coach Martin. Fitz Musick. Tony Bianco. Brian Sciranko. The Marching Bulldogs per- form at field competitions and all home football games. The Pep Band plays at numerous sports activities; the Concert Band gives various con- certs throughout the year. The Marching Bulldogs prepared for one field competition this past year. The practices for this competi- tion were long and hard. They had six-hour practices for a long week. They competed aginst nine other bands at Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and were awarded second place, losing to the home band by only 1.8 points. The Marching Bulldogs will be tak- ing a trip to the World s Fair, in Knox- ville, Tennessee this summer. The band members have had numerous fund raising activities, through which they plan to raise enough money to cover the entire cost of their trip. Missy Frey. Linda Henehan, Mary Hering. Never thought we'd make it, but we did!! Think back to our Freshman year, Remember how scared we were that very first day. Then the time flew past so fast that before you knew it we had our license, class rings, and our future plans all set. Our Senior year was fun — we were always first in everything. First to register, first in lunch line, and of course, first in floats!! But then again everybody served their last. The players played their last game, the cheer- leaders cheered their last cheer, the yearbook members designed their last page, and of course everyone served their last detention, and their last one-day. But most of all everyone received his last report card from SHS and his Diploma!! ) DclkaQ ybv.. q Jj- y J '_ i Ut Aie x zi' A f t i Q y y as 4 vu A- Officers 0 President — Penny Colley juniori Vice-President — Robin Matejka Secretary Treasurer — Mark Biznek President — Doug Varnik Vice-President — Tracy Bianco Secretary — Cheryl Tsupros Treasurer — Jodi Showalter 80 Becoming a junior is very exciting, but it is probably the busiest year. There are many advantages of being a Ju- nior. One advantage is that each Junior receives his class ring. He also receives the chance to take the ACT exam, which will help him to get into college. There are also the Homecoming festivities in which the Junior class took sec- ond place in the float competition. The rest of the year is devoted to working on the concession stand to earn mon- ey for the Jr. and Sr. prom, which they plan to create. Even though there is a lot of confusion in your Junior year, just think, only one year left! 81 uniori Gerry Anderson Marcia Anderson Jeff Angle Carla Anschutz Darien Anschutz Lisa Basso Shawn Bates Russell Best Douglas Bevis Tracy Bianco Joe Bloemker Alan Bohlen Russell Boster Donna Boston Kathy Brandt Tammy Button Sharon Cargnoni Michael Cipriano Deanne Coalson Joey Collins James Coyne Lynda Dennison Damian Dobrinich Val Dona Tammy Dooley Debbie Engelke Anita Faulkner Sheila Fritz Dawn Gockel Scott Graves 82 1983 Connie Greeling Dori Hartman Laura Heim James Hemp Darryl Henke JoAnn Hochmuth Mike Holeschek Joni Huffman Steve Johnson Debbie Jones Anne-Mari Juvela Jeff Karnosky Jeff Kilduff Mary Koehne Pamela Lawrence Kim Masinelli Laura Massie Pam Meade Rich Miller Fitz Musick Brad Neuhaus June Niemann Kym Obermiller Tracy O'Neil Kim Ott Jackie Parker Kim Pickerill John Rabida Susan Reger Rhonda Ridens 83 Tony Robinson Laura Roddick Donna Rodriguez Kris Rogers Dan Russell Brian Sciranko Jamie Seketa Jodi Showalter Dean Sievers Mark Smith Kim Soens Cindy Sternes Mike Stewart Debbie Struebig James Thomas Beverly Tooley Morris Treadway Cheryl Tsupros Debbie Tuey Connie Valent Diane Volentine Rena Wall Richard Wall Stacey Wenner Karen West Paula Wieseman Randy Williams Carrie Yaeger Lynn Yakos Doug Yarnik Cindy Young Angela Ziglar Todd Ziglar John Zupsich 84 ■UDO One down three to go! What a relief, we are no longer Freshmen. We can walk the halls of S.H.S. without fear of the SENIORS. Just think we finally get to take Driver s Ed. We will anxiously await out the time till we get our blue slips and then the big day. We get our license!!! We also get to order our class rings. (What a tough decision!!!) And just think of all those interesting classes we get to take: English II, Geome- try, Biology (dissecting worms! The freshmen are the last in the lunch line, last to leave the auditorium, and last to check out at the end of the year. Freshmen look for- ward to their first and last initiation (Ha!). Next year they will not have to hide from the SENIORS! The freshmen class has a lot to be proud of as far as sports go. The freshmen football team was almost undefeated (5-1) and their basketball team finished first in the Freshmen Tourney. Way to go FROSH!
