Harold Diel: Superintendent To the graduating seniors, we of- fer our congratulations. We would like to leave with you three thoughts: (1) The most valuable gift you can give another is a good example; (2) You never get a second chance to make a first impression; (3) We are about as big as the things which make us angry. J. Harold Diel, Supt. Mrs. Pat Vesper, Mrs. Shirley Renner, Mrs. Betty Looser: Mrs. Val Sherfy: Library Secretary Secretaries 38 Do not waste time worrying about things you cannot control. Prepare yourself for what you want to do in life, have patience, and act when the opportunities present themselves. Greg Humphries, this year’s most valuable player, set a new record of 6'2 3 4 in the high jump. Don Sulli- van, who set a new triple jump record of 41'1,’I went to State in the broad jump and placed 10th. Don was high point man this year, also. Robert Lietz broke the pole vault record in our last meet of the year with a vault of 11 6 . The 440 yd. relay record was shattered by a team comprised of Brian Wail, Jim Beisner, Jeff Hebenstreit, and Don Sullivan. The new record stands as 45.9. Keith Gockel broke his own record in the 330 yd. low hurdles with a run of 41.0. A promising new face on the track team this year was freshman Tom Spears, who set a new 2 mile record of 10:16.9. The track team had a good season, and although we're losing 5 good seniors (namely; Greg Humphries, Jeff Hebenstreit, Robert Lietz, Don Sullivan, and Brian Wall) we expect to have a good team returning next year. The winners were the Seniors with The Sweet Taste of Victory as their float theme and Pooh On the Miners for their stunt theme. By winning the stunt this year, the Seniors set a never-before-estab- lished record. They have won the stunt contest every year since their Freshman year with such titles as Let's Bury 'Em , Going For a Victory , Cross Our Hearts, Hope to Win , and now Pooh On the Miners . These titles have been backed by imaginative stunts; such as, coffins, outhouses, giant brassieres, and toilets with bears on them. Surely the senior class with such imagination and drive for success will have no trouble breaking other records throughout their lives. 79 Above: FFA—FHA Stunt—2nd Place Left: Freshman Float—2nd place winner— He Nose We'll Win Above: Freshman Stunt 80 Left: FFA—FHA Float-- Send Them Squealing Above: Junior Stunt Above: Sophomore Stunt 82 Second Maid Tami Mosser.
