Olive 16 20 Glen wood-Chatam 14 6 The 1973 football season got off to a good start under the direction of head coach Robert Chiti and assistant coaches. Barry Deist and Donald Massie. This was the first season for Mr. Massie at Staunton, although he was previously a coach at Hillsboro. Our hopes fell as injuries mounted, two big ones in one game. Both backs. Bill Marcuzzo and his replacement Mike Renner, were hurt on our own field in the game with Southwestern. We came back with a makeshift team and won the last three out of four games. Our overall average was 7-3 with a tie game with Carlinville. Our conference record was 3-2 with a tie with Carlinville. Norm Heigert made the all- conference team and Don Sullivan. Robert Lietz.
