Cooking, sewing, home management, child care, and family relations round out the course of study in homemaking. Training in letter writing, filing, legal typing, and other general training that qualifies students to do office work. The study of keeping financial records, both for business and personal use.

Majors may be obtained in English, taught by Mrs. Yakos, Mr. Pohnka, and Mr. Loynd; a major in science, taught by Mr. Maddox, Mr. Hall, and Mr. Bingman; a major in mathematics, taught by Mr. Schuetze and Mr. Maddox; and social sci- ences, taught by Mr. Brenzel and Mr. Lietz. Spanish is offered to fulfill the language requirement and speech and bookkeeping complete the list of courses necessary for ten academic units required by most col- leges for entrance. Team Games Physical Training MR. LIETZ - MRS. AUMANN - MR. BRENZEL Physical education and music complete the curriculum at Staunton High School. The classes in physical education include body building, team games, safety and first aid, and driver training, as well as instruction in other forms of recreation. Band is available for any student who is inter- ested. Instruction on musical instruments varies from classical compositions played by the con- cert band; waltzes, tangoes, and polkas played by the dance band; and marches and pep songs played by the three pep bands. Liking to sing is the only requirement for entrance into the Senior Choir, and entrance into the A Cappella Choir is gained through try- outs. lJu MR. RUSSELL MR. NIKA Weight Lifting Marching Band
