DEDICATION Staunton Elementary School, Community Unit District No. 6 held the dedication of the new building on November 25, 1956, at 2:30 P. M. At a special election held February 20. 1954, the Staunton Community Unit District No. 6 was authorized to build a new elementary school with special departments de- signed for use by both high school and elementary school. Although the building was not complete, school officially opened September 1, 1956. An Open House from 1:30 to 2:15 preceded the formal dedication of the new building. Participating in the ceremonies were: Concert - Staunton High School band Invocation - Reverend Kenneth Bower Piano solo - Mary Haferkamp Vocal solo - Joan Jensen Presentation of school board - Lewis W. Jacobs, President Introduction of speaker - J. Harold Diel, Superintendent Speaker - Dr. H. J. Long, President of Greenville College Presentation of the Building to Mr. Jacobs - Architect Edward A. Kane
