CLASS HISTOR Y Do you remember that first day you came to elementary school? Do you remember learning to read, to print, and then to write? Do you remember when you first made all those wonderful friends that have stuck with you through all the years? Do you remember the trouble you had learn- ing to get along with people your own age? Do you remember facing the first crack of that new whip-homework? Do you remember all those Saturdays and the afternoon movies with the gang? Do you remember the first hectic days at Junior High and all the new friends you met there? Do you remember the steps to the gym and the tree nearby? Do you remember finding out that there is more to learn than just reading writing, and arithmetic? Do you remember working on the Junior High-Light and your first taste of student gov- ernment? Do you remember that first junior-Senior at junior High? Do you remember the day you went to Senior Chapel at Senior High? Do you remember the summer you eagerly waited for your first year at Senior High to begin-not just any Senior High, but THE Senior High, S.H.S.? Do you remember being amazed by the numerous clubs at Senior High and the rush to join all those that were open to sophomores? Do you remember going out for sports and trying to make the team? Do you remember signing up for the Blue and Gray or the Trail Staff and working your head off to make the grade? Do you remember working so hard for the Dramatics Club, either on or behind the stage? Do you remember signing library slips and working on that bulletin board for Book Week? Do you remember slaving on that Home- coming float? Do you remember those inspirational night meetings of the Bible Club? Do you remember the Monogram Club Ban- quet when you received your first letter? Do you remember the hectic, but wonderful, nights at the Rec? Do you remember the fun you had disecting earthworms in Biology? Do you remember seeing those high and mighty seniors cry at their graduation and not being able to understand why? Do you remember the hours spent working in the cafeteria or in the concession stand and the feeling of accomplishment you had as you watched the money roll in? Do you remember slaving night after night trying to get the gym ready for the Junior- Senior? Do you remember how beautiful it looked when that night In An Oriental Gardeni' finally came and how it was gone before you realized it? Do you remember the odd feeling you had when you realized that you were the seniors now? Do you remember how you tried so hard to fill every minute of that last precious year? Do you remember going to every game, to every pep rally, and yelling like a madman? Do you remember your last Homecoming game and how you prayed that it wouldnt rain? Do you remember your Junior-Senior and how that beautiful night seemed to fly away so quickly. Do you remember seeing the Nations Capitol with your classmates and what a big happy family you seemed to be? Do you remember receiving those hard- earned awards and shedding tears at your Senior Chapel? Do you remember how meaningful that Baccalaureate Sermon seemed? Do you remember when you finally received your diploma-the symbol of twelve years of toil and fun, of friendship and beautiful mem- ories? lf you remember these things, you remember the happiest and best years of your life-your years at Statesville Senior High School!
