.'!5 3'i1 ,. The plot thickens 'Dark W'ind'. The debaters gather 'ammunition'. SPEEEH A D UHAMATIES Nlrs. Nlorris has really put Statesboro on the map in the literary world this year. The one-act play placed second in the district contest and Margaret Ann Ilekle was named Best actress in the district. The Beta Club Play was a bigger success this year than ever before. The Roaring Twentiesn came alive in the three- act comedy, Turn Back the Clock. Haryille Hendrix took top state honors in the xlaycee's l Speak for Democracy contest. The debate team gave other first district schools stiff competition. Our hats are off to the speech department and its direc- tor. Though this is only the second year that a regular course in art has been taught at SHS. the young artists have really progressed under the able super- yision of Miss Mary Lou. lfrom per- spective to pastels and portraits to pa- pier mache, the art department has put the school building into tip top shape in the way of decorations. At 2' '4- 51 Christmas especially, many professional looking scenes are found in almost every room. The only complaint from the art students is that they LlOl'l'fl'l.1YC enough time in their class.
