To increase the professional compe- tence of its members. To gain and maintain professional leadership in the field of plant engineers and public acceptance of American Institute of Plant Engineers and its goal and objectives. To develop policy posi- tions on public issues of major consequence to plant engineers where the professions expertise is clearly applicable. To contribute to the advancement of applied technology in critical areas as pollution con- trol, industrial safety, industrial training and energy conservation. To disseminate Plant Engineering Technology by reviewing technical papers for publication, abstracting published reference guides and maintaining a technical reference library. To encourage student engi- neers to enter the field of plant engineering and develop plant engineer- ing curriculum. To maintain an active and effective role in the genera- tion; development, and maintenance of codes and s tandards applicable i the varied functions of plant engineering.
