N. f. L. The Laboratory School National Forensic League, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Lucia Bolt, participates in extra-curricular activities in all fields of speech except dramotics. Members of the League took part in various speech contests during the year and presented two entertaining convocotions. President-Jack Watson Vice-President--Paul Pilant Secretary--Jim Martin Treasurer-Carol Taflinger THESPIANS The Laboratory School Chapter of Thespians, organized in January of l947, is sponsored by Mrs. Lucio Bolt. The Thespians are interested in promoting dramatics. The members earn merit points by giving dramatic and humorous declamations, by taking part in plays, or by working on stage crews for plays. Officers: President-Mary Anthony Vice-President-Wilma King Secretory-Treasurer-Eileen Bonney SCIENCE CLUBS The purposes of the Science Club are to let the science students perfect some of their own ideas and put them into practice and to interest students in higher sciences. Officers: Officers: President-Bill Denehie, Jerry Beushausen Vice-President--Ralph Courtney, Otto Palmer Secretary-Lois Sloan, Margaret Jones, Jack Wilson, Jack Wilson F BOOK CLUB The Book Club is composed of o group of iuniors and seniors who meet informally each Thursday afternoon to enioy a literary program. Using phonograph records, the members have made a study of plays and poetry. Officers of the club are Jim Harris, acting president, and Marie Starrett, secretary.

emi M LATIN cLuB . W Semper Progrediens, State Higlgis Latin Club, with its seventy members, has enjoyed a very prosperous year. The activities cdnsisted of an initiation for first year Latin studerfts in the fall, followed by various entertaining programs. The Latin banquet, held in true Roman style with novel entertainment, was the final activity of the year. Following vigorous campaining the following officers were elected: Consuls: Jack Wilson, Paul Pilant, Aediles: Barbara Harden, Marjorie Gruen- holz, Claire Hannum, Mory Anthony, Joe Hough- telin, Ronnie Maxwell, Mickey Korg Scribae: Gail Roundtree, Bob Heckelsberg, Marion Pettus, Ouaestors: Donna Whittelsey, Jim Martin, Helen Sparks. SPANISH CLUB The Spanish Club members with their spon- sor, Mrs. Kelley, have enjoyed many films and slides on Spanish countries and activities. At the Christmas season they had an enioyable party featuring Spanish Christmas customs, including the breaking of the pinata and en,oying its con- tents. Officers: President-Patsy Bays Vice-President--Richard Settle Secretary--Frank Jarvis Treasurer-Woodie Nasser JUNIOR HOBBY CLUB Approximately eighty boys have been en- rolled in the Hobby Club, which provides a place where the boys of grades five through eight may spend an hour a week making any proiects that they desire. Attractive lamps, book racks, what-not shelves, model airplanes, autos, and boats have been made. Mr. Marvin Bell sponsors this group. VISUAL AIDS CLUB The members of the Audio Visual Aids Club are: Denzil Adams, Jerry Beushausen, Fred Brooks, Sam Call, Robert Donald, David Hunt, Wayne Milam, Barbara Nutter, Otto Palmer, Joseph Perucca, Richard Rueger, Richard Settle, Clifford Simpson, Cary Thompson, and Harry Willson. The club was formed in the fall of I946 and the members have been largely responsible for the audio-visual program during the year I946-47. They have learned to operate and take care of the equipment and work on a schedule for show- ing films.
