Varsitg Baslcetlaall Ranked twelfth in the State of Indiana hy the Associated Press, this year's team compiled the hest record in the history of the State High School. In winning twenty games and losing three, State's Young: Sycamores tied for the city championship, won the Wabash Valley Preliminary, and were one ot' the eight teams remaining from a starting field of one hundred-eleven teams. Of the'three games lost, one was an overtime, and the other two were lost hy close margins. All three games were listed as unexpected upsets, as this smooth working crew was picked to win the Valley and City crowns. The Associated Press listed State's loss in the State Sectional as one ot' the tive major upsets in Indiana high school haskethall. Brilliant passing, a lightning-t'ast hreak, and an air-tiglit defense attracted record-lrreaking crowds to nearly every game. t'-oach Paul Wolf, who has heen Sycamore mentor for fourteen years, used great ingenuity in en- gineering' this powerful team to pjreat heights which included a tifteen game winning streak.
