. . . Our todays, yesterdays and tomorrows . . . Growth has been characteristic of State Fair Community College since the first groundbreaking ceremony on our campus on June 6, 1968. Over the past 10 years, this growth has been evident not only in the number of buildings constructed, but also in the steady increase in student enrollment and course offerings. SFCC is bound to experience continued expansion and improvement during this second decade. This growth seems to come because, as President Fred E. Davis recently said, We dream a lot around here. Our college ' s future is determined by what we did in the past and by what we dream and do in the present. Therefore the Exhibitor would like to take you on a tour of our community ' s past and present through an eight-page photo-essay

in color. The pages are 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 16. We express our appreciation to local industries that permitted us to photograph their sites. We also thank the City of Sedalia for letting us photograph the historic murals in the Municipal Building. The color photographs on the eight pages depict the various symbols on SFCC seal. The roots of our seal are steeped in local history and culture. The award ribbon in the upper left of the seal symbolizes Missouri State Fair. In 1899 Missouri Legislature named Sedalia as the permanent site of the State Fair. Since then, Missouri ' s annual exposition has continued to be a vital part of the local economy. The longhorn head and railroad track are symbolic of the cattle drives and railhead at Sedalia. The banjo and keyboard represent classical ragtime jazz which originated in Sedalia. The torch and the wheel of industry represent the academic and vocational-technical efforts of the college. The wavy line across the shield symbolizes water and the Kaysinger Dam. The Greek columns represent SFCC as an institution of higher education. Thus, our college seal tells a significant story — a story of our community ' s assets, efforts and aspirations. This yearbook tells a similar story, too. We hope you will find this tenth volume of the Exhibitor as interesting to read as it was for us to produce. — Exhibitor Staff
