During her presentation Mrs. Leithie stressed the importance of making a good impression during a job interview and discussed information about job opportunities, benefits and salaries at Hallmark in Kansas city. In Secretarial Science What Individualized Instruction Means To The Student TO HELEN BRESHEARS Individualized Instruction means open entry - enrolling in a course when you are ready for it, not necessarily at the beginning of the semester. Helen enrolled in Typing II on October 18th because she completed the course requirements for Typing I in early October. She didn'tihave to wait until the Spring semester began in Januarv. TO MARY KAY CAUTHON Individualized Instruction means meeting special needs. Mary Kay had developed the habit of peeking at her keys while typing. While completing Typing I She concentrated on correcting this problem and worked on special drills. Now Mary Kay's eyes are almost riveted to her text or copy. In a traditional classroom the instructor must concentrate on the needs of the majority of students which are usually increased speed and accuracy. TO JUDY GERKEN Individualized Instmction means open end - getting your grade and college credit when you complete the course content and achieve the course dbjectivesg completion is not required by the last day of the semester. Judy and her husband are the proud new parents of a lovely baby girl. When the adoption agency notified Judy that their long awaited baby was ready to go home, she had to withdraw from the traditional classes to stay home with her baby. Judy was in the last semester of her two-year secretarial program. She has been able to continue the individualized Shorthand IV and Typing IV classes though. One day a week Grandmother has the privilege of - taking care of Jennifer and Judy spends that rday in the Shorthand Lab and Typing Lab working toward completion of these courses. Judy hopes to complete her degree by taking the other needed classes at night. ' 'S-'K My .. ir.-F' sits.. 4 -s. ... zg, ,,.. 1 . I i 3YQf,,?lL?T2.1-XQs2 f-x - J Miss Karen Hnhman is using a Burroughs Full Key adding machine to complete a lesson in the office machines course. Karen is in the 2 year AA Degree secretarial science program.
