At one point SFCC was 3-7, and nobody was dreaming of Hutchin- son, Kansas at that time. Perhaps the turning point of the season came on the weekend of Ianuary 15. The Roadrunners had previously lost a tough weekend set to Three Rivers and to Iefferson College. This time we bounced back with a convincing 88-68 win over Three Rivers and avenged a one-point loss to the Vikings with a one-point triumph. With the Penn Val- ley win, it appeared that we could handle anyone. But Moberly and Crowder stood in the playoff road. After the heartbreaker with the Greyhounds lost at the buzzer, the incentive had been supplied. The Boadrunners took their No. 4 seeding, and handed Crowder and Moberly their tickets for their return trip home much to the delight of the crowd at the Ag Building. SFCC then swept Meramec in two straight and looked to the national tourney. An excellent turn- out greeted the team at the Hutchinson Sports Arena along with some rugged competition. Casper and Dal- ton flaunted a combined record of 60-5. Although the season came to a sudden halt, much has been gained. The experience of competition with these powerful opponents was, and will be, an asset in the years to come. As many of us left Hutchinson our only thought was, We'1l be back soon. 1971- 72 Season Record Opponent We They Whiteman AFB 109 80 Iohnson County Kansas 88 83 Missouri Western 84. 85 Peru State 100 79 Southwest Baptist IV 89 60 Meramec Community College 62 79 Mineral Area 79 92 Moberly 62 78 Iowa Western 85 95 Three Rivers 69 80 Iefferson College 67 68 Highland Kansas 71 68 Trenton 80 69 Penn Valley 83 97 Hannibal 78 70 Longview 117 99 Three Rivers 88 58 Iefferson College 64 63 Southwest Baptist IV 74 55 Crowder 83 88 Iohnson County Kansas 85 83 Fort Scott 69 89 Allen County 78 57 Longview 116 75 Crowder 74 76 East Central 85 58 Penn Valley 84 61 Trenton 69 67 Iowa Western 88 94 Moberly 71 73 East Central 100 80 Trenton' 84 72 Crowder' 73 53 Moberly' 66 53 Meramech' 70 69 Meramec 83 69 Casper, Wyort- 65 79 Dalton, Ga.-lf 83 90 'regional 16 west division playoffs ' 'regional 16 playoffs -1-national tournament 9

Without question the most explosive offensive threat to don a Roadrunner uniform, his lightning fast reflexes al- lowed him many steals and consequent lay-ups such as this one in a 78-70 Homecoming win over Hannibal. By mid-season lim had already broken the career scoring mark held by Iohn Nelson. A 6' 3 freshman from Freedom, Pennsylvania, he reminds one of the New York Knicks' Earl the Pearl Monroe with his elusive ball handling, passing, and dribbling. Playing forward much of the time, lim found himself outsized by many foes, but blessed with fine spring in his legs, he held his own and more. Another great asset is his knack for drawing fouls. On dozens of instances when he went underneath, he came out with free throws and often a three-point play. i N '- 'W
