At one point SFCC was 3-7, and nobody was dreaming of Hutchin- son, Kansas at that time. Perhaps the turning point of the season came on the weekend of Ianuary 15. The Roadrunners had previously lost a tough weekend set to Three Rivers and to Iefferson College. This time we bounced back with a convincing 88-68 win over Three Rivers and avenged a one-point loss to the Vikings with a one-point triumph. With the Penn Val- ley win, it appeared that we could handle anyone. But Moberly and Crowder stood in the playoff road. After the heartbreaker with the Greyhounds lost at the buzzer, the incentive had been supplied. The Boadrunners took their No. 4 seeding, and handed Crowder and Moberly their tickets for their return trip home much to the delight of the crowd at the Ag Building. SFCC then swept Meramec in two straight and looked to the national tourney. An excellent turn- out greeted the team at the Hutchinson Sports Arena along with some rugged competition. Casper and Dal- ton flaunted a combined record of 60-5. Although the season came to a sudden halt, much has been gained. The experience of competition with these powerful opponents was, and will be, an asset in the years to come.
