It was this man who single-handedly put together the number ONE basketball team in the nation for defense, beginning in August of 1968 just a month before the doors at SFCC opened. With talent, perserverance, and courage, Coach Wehking gathered basketball players together, from all over Mis- souri and even from as far away as Greensboro, 'North Carolina, to help bring this college fame and honor in one short year of existence. The Hoadrunners, under Wehking's able guidance, brought home a 15-5 record, plus the National Basketball Defense title. This helped bring the student body together and promoted both school and community spirit Coach Wehking also had a highly successful season this year against an even tougher competition by achieving an 18-7 record. . It has taken a strong, capable man to accomplish this task, and Coach Wehking has filled the job competently So, it is with a great sense of pride and gratefulness that we dedicate this 1969-1970 Exhibitor to Head Coach and Head Roadrunner - Fred Wehking! T for this us Altlflow She taugh the school It is 1 gave her 1970 Year SFCC's jo is this man rinning in l over Mis- 1 one short e National tnity spirit. ng an 18-7 mpetently. Ioach and The dedication of a yearbook is an honor that involves muchithought and consideration. The person selected for this usually has shown outstanding service in his field. Such a person is Verlene Potter. Although she is no longer with us at SFCC, she will always hold a special spot in the history of our school. She taught speech and English during her stay here, but she also spent many dedicated extra hours in loyalty to the school as the first sponsor of The Exhibitor and the Roadrunner Express. It is tor these many long hours of service, her outstanding regard for the school, and the inspiration she gave her students as a teacher, that Mrs. Verlene Potter has been chosen to share this dedication ot the 1969- 1970 Yearbook. Thanks, Mrs. Potter, for starting us up the publications ladder and for laying the foundations of SFCC's journalism department.
