6 f' 9' r I' f 'a 'Z Gazing at the new auditorium, two seniors are greatly impressed. Our beautiful new Senior High School building began as a concept in the mind of an architect as based upon the needs of a town or city. lt grew and matured into a plan with a definite shape and design-ba thing of beauty and simplicity. ln changing it became a composite of the ideas of many men, but it was still just a thoughtg just lines on paper. Suddenly it was transformed: it became a thing of concrete, steel, and glass-a real structure to be seen, to be touched, to be admired, and to be-used. Thus, the new College Area Senior High School building was planned and constructed by the work and sweat of many men. The building committee of the Board of Education was directly responsible for the recommendations that led to the construction of this new institution of learning. They recommended the site of our new building and the choice of an architect. These recommendations were approved by the Board of Education and the Building Authority. wVe would like to thank these men who have given a great deal of their time and talents so that we can enjoy this ultra-modern structure. The committee included Fred Hoffman, chairman and representative of College Township, David Barr, Half Moon Township representative: Russell Brennan. representative of Ferguson Township, Dr. john Schempf, Harris Township representativeg Raymond V. Wfatkins, Borough representativeg and Clar- ence Ziegler, representative of Patton Township. At the beginning of our senior year we began a new school life. Wfe greeted the ensuing year with mixed emotions-a little fear and a great deal of excitement. Each discovery brought varied impressions to the students. To many, the first and most important impression was the beauty and majesty of this edifice. Throughout this annual, we will try to convey the various impressions of the students as they see the College Area Senior High School for the first time.

Dvdiml 2714 Tackle that man! Hit that line! Keep your hands on the ball! These are the familiar phrases to one of State High's most avid fans, T. R. Kemmerer, Seniorg College Area Senior High Principal. Not only is his interest that of a sportsman, but also that of a staunch rooter for his team. Mr. Kemmerers interest in sports dates back to his younger days when he donned the helmet and shoulder pads used in football. In college his sports activities were varied. He played football and varsity tennis and participated in all intramural sports. At State High from 1928-1947 he was active as a football, basketball, and tennis coach. T. R., as our principal is affectionately called, was born on March 4, 1905, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Albright Preparatory School in Read- ing, Pennsylvania, Mr. Kemmerer attended Susquehanna University from which he ob- tained his Bachelor's Degree. In 1937, he received his Master of Education Degree from Penn State. T. R. traveled to Evanston, Illinois, in 1946, for further education at Northwestern University. A man of many talents is hen for during his college days he earned extra money by working in a dance band. Beating out a rhythm on the drums was fand still isj his specialty. Ted also was a very good tenor and participated in the Glee Club activities of his college.
