As this is our last goodbye, we would like to thank everyone who helped us complete our earliest goal - to graduate. It is only appropriate that we should dedicate our yearbook to someone who has dedicated so much to us. The administration, the teachers, the counselors, and the secretaries all lit into this category, but there is one man who stands out, one who must receive our special thanks. And so it is with much gratitude and love that we dedicate Independence '76 to Mr. Harold B. Smith. Starpoint is an Empire, and our reign is ending. Living during one of the more controversial periods in history, we've seen it all. We've had budgets barely pass, and tests we didn't pass at all, bomb scares, regents stolen, and quick successions of administration. We've had open hostility between the classes, and teachers and friends die. Most recently welve watched a major parking lot crisis, a crippling strike, and the crowning of the homecoming queen, all Iirsts in S.C.S. history. And through it all, we've had the usual male-female relation- ships blossom and die under the tirst official statement condemning such behavior. The years are far from wasted, for in between this all, we've learned the area ofa triangle - Mbh, the U.S. entered W.W.II on Decem- ber 8, 1941, and avogadro's number. It is with bitter-sweet memories that we will look back upon this. It helped us learn to accept change because there is no other way to achieve progress, and with all the progress left to go, we will be thankful for S.C.S.'s help. For in the end, it will be us against the world . . . K.M. A U aw-ubwrsdz 064 WL 661,10 Why79 This year's Senior Class departed from tradition and presented three one act plays in November, The director was Mr. Carl Wager, and he was assisted by student director, Murray Mumau. The evening began with an unusual, tense drama, No Why , by John Whiting. It depicted a family and the ways in which family members and other unique relatives dealt with a discipline problem of their young son. The production then moved to a light melodrama, The Perils of Priscilla , which is also known as A Schoolmarm's Dilemma . This play was complete with a villian, hero, her- oine, and appropriate cheer and boo-hiss cues for audience participation, It's Cold In Them Thar Hills neatly wrapped up the evening with a hilarious hillbilly rendition of a Mshotgun wed- ding . Congratulations are extended to the many who participated and helped make this an excellent pre- sentation. A LQ row 1: benny smith, mark mangold, bruce cory. row 2: paul smith, john boulden, john cook. this year's well rounded cross country team proved to be the most successful ever in starpoint's history. the spartan harriers began their season with an explosive performance by sweeping the grand island invitational. the next two invitationals proved equally commendable. finishing second at mcquaid and first at Williamsville expanded the team's trophy collection. by the end of the season the spartan,s record was: ll-O league meets, 14-0 dual meets, and an amazing 78-2 over- all season record. the two slim defeats came from hilton and archrival, fredoniag the latter resulting in second place, section 6 for starpoint runners. individual awards were plentiful as ll members received var- sity letters. co-captains geoff boulden and greg goodman re- ceived all-league honors linishing second and fifth respectively, followed by kevin Scranton finishing eighth. geoff also finished second in both sectional and stage class B. congratulations to the finest team ever at starpoint. k 4 Q. , - 'Q 'X X232 N v ' f ' 'ik' W ' K ,:-ff:...Nfg-.V- , N, J, ' f- ' 'f-wfqwaial-ffm-fe i,m'+fgxjk mw.n.xfsiiHWg- Ywfkife A .f --5 -gf H, . ..
