CROSS COUNTRY - I965 SECTIONAL CHAMPS The Sectionals at Elma Meadows- The 1965 Starpoint harriers kept pace with the great cross-country teams of the past. The varsity team extended its win streak to 60 meets, while winning their fifth straight Niagara-Orleans League title, and their third straight Sec- tion VI Class A Championship. The only dark spot of the season was the narrow defeat by Class B school, Silver Creek, in the Class A B C finals at Elma Meadows. This kept the team from participating in the Intersec- tionals at Bear Mountain State Park. Ken Mayer and Clip Class did an outstanding job for the Spartans, finish- ing one and two in every League race and All League race. In the sectionals Mayer finished first and Class sixthg and in the Intersectionals Mayer finished Sth and Class 64th. During the season Mayer set records of 10:47 for 2.1 miles at Roy-Hart and 10:40 for 2.1 miles at Barker.
