SEASON HIGH LIGHTS The Starkville Yellow Jackets had a highly successful season in 1953, winning nine games while losing only two. The Jackets had a 5-1 record in the conference and a 4-1 record in the nonconference battles The most thrilling game was the Louisville encounter with the Jackets winning by the score of 20-18. Johnny McReynolds scored the winning touchdown with a minute and a half left after taking a pass from Paul Dun- can. Shep Crigler added the all important extra points. Starkville could have easily won the Little Ten with a little luck in the Aberdeen game. The Jackets were stopped three times within the tenyard line inthe first half. The Philadelphia game could have been won if the half hadn't ended with the Jackets on the Philly two yard line. The fighting spirit of the seven seniors on the team, Leslie Drane, Shep Crigler, Johnny McReynolds, Jimmy Henry, Bobby Blankenship, Ronnie Klages, and Preston Shurden will be missed a great deal next season, The leadin individual scores on the team were: Mcieynolds 84, Crigler 55, Drane 30, Ashford 18, Duncan 12, Davis 7, and Quinn 6, Bobby Blankenship John McReynolds END FULLBACK new ' ' L Q L L I T T L -s'2- E T 5 .
