FOOTBALL B NQUET On Thursday night, December l, l949, at 7:30, the annual football banquet Was held at the Midway Tearoom. Each year at this time Dr. l-lunter Scales gives them team this ban- quet. For the iirst time, the Freshmen and Pee Wee Teams were invited along with the varsity. Also present were Dr. Scales, Coaches Scales and Thompson, Larry Scales, Mr. Wilburn Smitfz, minister of the local Baptist Church, and the seven cheerleaders. The banquet was opened with the Welcom- ing address by Dr. Scales, atter which, at his request, the cheerleaders gave a yell. When the invocation had been given by Mr. Smith, a delicious meal was served. The menu con- sisted of turkey, dressing, English peas, can- died sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, milk, and apple pie. Short speeches were made by the coaches, cheerleaders, and senior boys alter which gilts were presented to the coaches and Dr. Scales by the players and cheerleaders. After a very enjoyable evening, the banquet Was concluded with a speech by Coach Scales. Z-f .. What cr crew! Say, you are hungry Coach.
