We had an exciting football season, highlighted by the crowning of the sweetheart on homecoming night. Starkies awaited, with much excitement, the coronation. After the drudgery of mid-term exams, the beauty election was held. Soon, in what seemed like a mad rush, came the plays, and proms. Then came the realiza- tion that, after twelve years of hard work, gradua- tion was nearing. We have tried to preserve all these memories and many more in this book. We've tried to use more pictures and more people in this yearbook. We have also tried to edit the best Orange Peel ever. The success of our book, however, depends upon how you, the student, accepts it. So here it is-your 1960 ORANGE PEEL. l six if Wffw-f 1 tigi'2Zu?56Qfyc0ntents , 1 M, P W rw' My Administration .,v., Senior High .,,,..... Junior High ........,,o.. Calendar ,,,....,..,.,oo,i.i...... V 41 1 May 27. 1960 To The Students of Lutcher Stark Senior High School and Helen Carr Junior High School The technology and automation of your era points to a most interesting and exciting future. The current world situation indicates that each of you must have a sympathetic outlook and a broader understanding, as well as a more imaginative, yet realistic, approach to international problems than did those who preceeded you. Conditions for success in the years ahead appear to be based upon your record of achievement, your worthy use of leisure time activities, and your intimate knowledge and understanding of your fellow man rather than upon the securing of a diploma--or any trite goal of getting through school. My very best wish for you is that as you meet this future you will have achieved a desire to know, a. will to learn, and the courage to act. Very truly yours , 7111 A? M . I...
