Qtlarss 71 isimfg In the fall of 1931 forty-three timid fresh- men climbed the stairs of Starbuck High School to begin their secondary education. The follow- ing were enrolled as classmates: Clara Aasen, Evelyn Aaberg, Myra Amundson Edith Ander- son, Arnt Aune, Evelyn Barsness Magnus Bau- kol, Joseph Belgum, Clifford Berg, Lorrin Dahl- ager, Margret Elie, Gladys Erickson, Ella For- bord, Lloyd Golden, Naomi Gorder, Philip Hag- ert, Pearl Hanson, Luverne Johnson, Roy John- son. Ralph Kiera, Gordon Kleven, Sylvia Ko- land, Solveig Landaas, Herman Larson, Margret Larson, Amy Nelson, Eldred Nelson Alice Nor- kw, Gladys Noyes, Evelyn Olson, Jean Overson, Florence Pederson, Raymond Pederson, Olga Rasmussen, Glenn Rundquist, Clarice Sanvik, Dorvan Skoglund, Arlene Swenhaugen, Luverne Thorstad, Vivian Tollefson, Everett Wesen, Gerhard Wold and Dorothy Wollan. The first class meeting was held and Luverne Johnson was elected president, Sylvia Koland, vice presi- dent, Dorvan Skoglund, Sec'y-Treas., and Miss Lilian Charlesworth, class advisor. The initia- tion party gave us a fine start toward our high school careers. We gave a successful return party to show our gratitude. The girls' basket- ball team captured the class tournament, and the first year ended very successfully. After a summer's vacation, the school bells summoned our class again. That year Clara Aasen. Lloyd Golden, Pearl Hanson, Rely John- scn, Ralph Kjera, Gordon Kleven, Herman Lar- son, Gladys Noyes, Olga Rasmussen, Glenn Rund- cuist, and Arlene Swenhaugen left us but Gladys Olson, Orville Hagen, and Howard Skin- ner enrolled in our class. The first class meet- ing was held and the following were elected as officers: president, Margret Larson, vice presi- dent, Joseph Belgum, Sec'y-Treas., Gladys Olson, and class advisor, Miss Dorothy Olson. The tra- ditional installation of the freshmen was spon- sored by the class. That year the sophomore class captured both the boys' and girls' basket- ball championships in the class tournaments. Eldred Nelson was selected as the school's ora- tor,dso our sophomore year ended very well in- dee . At last we were upper classmen and we felt our superiority over the lower classes. Again the number was depleted as Evelyn Aaberg, Evelyn Barsness, Margret Elie, Philip Hagert, Eldred Nelson, Jean Overson, Evelyn Olson, Raymond Pederson, Everett Wesen, and Dorothy Wollan left our ranks but Earl Larson, Wayne Mather, and Earl Wollan joined us. The follow- ing officers were elected for the ensuing school year: president, Joseph Belgumg vice president, Naomi Gorder: Sec'y-Treas., Sylvia Kolandg class advisor, Miss Dorothy Olson. The class play was given very well through the strenuous eforts of our coach, Lilian Charlesworth. We were hosts to the seniors at a Two Ring Circus Banquet. Its success was due to the guidance W? received from our class advisor, Miss Dorothy O son. At last the climax of our school careers has been reached. At the beginning of the school year Edith Anderson, Vivian Tollefson, Luverne Johnson, and Luverne Thorstad failed to join our group. The following class officers were elected: president, Dorvan Skoglundg vice presi- dent, Lorrin Dahlager, secretary, Arnt Auneg treasurer, Wayne Matherg and class advisor Supt. W. A. Peterson. Our class play, Nothing But The Truth , coached by W. A. Peterson, was well received. Although our high school careers are drawing to a close, memories of the good old high school days will linger long in our hearts.
