Prophecy As I sat by the window watching the snow fall one afternoon, I marveled at the beauty of the scene. Each snowflake was an individual thing and very unlike the rest. My thoughts drifted back into the past - back to my class- mates in school. In each snowflake I could see the face of one of my friends. Then it seemed that one large snowflake drifted onto the window sill and burst. A geni in the form of a snowman appeared and told me what had become of these dear classmates of mine. First he told me that Edna Kennedy had achieved fame in Carnegie Hall with her piano Rhapsody in J. Minor. Doyle McLeod is now living in West Virginia and is mining coal with his father-in-law. Sue Shaw chose journalism as a career and has become a success. Her latest book is ‘‘I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles’’. A. D. Evans,Jr. is a star basketball player for the ‘‘Black Ankle Sureshots’’. Martha Davis is head nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Joe Hough is a Baptist minister and lives in the parsonage at Star, North Carolina. Remell Dunn is a leading fashion designer in New York. Jean Wright is an airplane hostess for the American Air Lines. Jerry Don Reynolds is now driving a truck for the P and W Trucking com- pany. , Polly Sheffield is a secretary to a famous surgeon. Ruth Deaton is now married and living in Asheboro. M arie Brewer is a nurse in Montgomery County Hospital. Lacy Williams, Jr. is now in the grocery business with his father. Nancy Maness’s dream has finally come true. She has completed her nurses’ training and is at the moment caring for twin boys. Phyllis Phillips’s acting ability has brought her fame. She is now a movie star in Hollywood. Is your farm stock ailing? Call Dr. Don Morgan, Veterinarian. Ernest Davis is farming in Moore County. Albert Hancock, Jr. is now in the United States Navy. Another member of our class has entered this branch of the service. Frances Rose is a lieutenant in the Waves. Bobby Trogdon is a well-driller inthe employment of one of his relatives. Donald Maness is a great inventor of flying saucers. Maude Davis, a leading model in New York, has acquired that Northern brogue. Susie Presnell has become a nurse in a naval hospital and is constantly bringing cheer to those lonely sailors. J. E. Morgan is still boarding socks at Clayson Knitting Company. His love-life is still a major problem. Grace Dean Wiles is now playing professional basketball with the McCrary Eagles. Having completed his education at Citadel Gene Ingold is now an electrical engineer. Edward Wright is a successful business man in Richmond, Virginia. And finally the geni said that Betty Jean Cole had completed her course at W.C.U.N.C. and is now teaching Home Economics at Star, N. C.

Last Will Gnd Testament We, the graduating class of 1951 of Star High School, being of sound mind and good judgment, possessing an ‘‘overcrammed brain’’, and being about to depart from this phase of our education, do make and publish this, our last will and testament. We praise ourselves openly for the success we are, asa class and individually. We hereby bequeath the same as follows: To Mr. Fields, Mrs. Shamburger, and the remaining high school faculty, our deepest appreciation for the wonderful leadership you’ve given us, and for the interest you’ve had in our work. To our parents goes, also, our apprecia- tion for encouraging us to meet the final requirements for that ‘‘sheepskin’’. To Fred Morgan goes Ernest’s bus route. Marie and Martha leave their place at the icecream box to Clara and Ottie. Jr. Williams gives that innocent expression he uses so much to Walton Russell. To Doris King and Jimmy Deaton go Phyllis’s and Jean’s jobs as librarians, third and fourth periods, respectively. Edward leaves his job as chewing gum supplier for some of the girls to J. C. Albert and Bobby bequeath their ability to pass all English tests to Billy Lamonds. Ruth leaves her office job to Kathleen. Maude and Grace leave their basketball ability to Viola. Edna and Joe leave their musical talent to James Howard. Jerry and Donald pass on their secret method of being able to be late to school and get by with it to Walter Deaton and Richard Lowder. To Joe Reynolds and Billy Needham goes Sue and Gene’s dependability. Lefty leaves his position as cutest boy to Poe. Doyle leaves his safe driving record to Cecil. Nancy, Remell, and Frances leave their quiet ways to Mary Alice. Susie leaves her place as teacher’s pet to Peggy Smith. Betty Jean leaves her knowledge of books to Doris Dixon.
