4--l-I CLUB The Star City 4-H Club started on May 9 with 23 members. The girls who en- rolled were taking various projects and some carrying as many as six at one time. The members at the first of the year were: Anna Marie Bauman, Joan Sales Bau- man, Lois Ann Bishop, Lillian Bonnell, Margaret Bonnell, Delores Brown, Donna Lou Brown, Virginia Lee Brown, Aldonna.Cosgray, Leah Jane Cosgray, Geraldine Cris- singer, Jane Crissinger, Virginia Crist, Bernive Haselby, Lorah Hettinger, Esther Purdy, Florenoe Schultz, Darlene Surber, VVilma Alice Wacknitz, Sandra Warner, Donna Barker, Vivian DePoy, and Del-ores MoCrosky. Of all the girls who enrolled about 85 per Cent completed their work. The officers of our elub were: President, Margaret Bonnell: vice-President, Vir- ginia Brown: serretary-treasurer, Lois Bishopg song leader, A:nna Marie Bauman. Our leader was Mrs. Mary Jones. ln Ju-ne of 1944, Margaret 'Bonnell went to Purdue for three days. There were six girls from the eounty who went to that Round-Up. Our first meeting was May 9 at the Star City Home Eeonomics YOUTH. The meet- ings were held on Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. The order of the meeting was the Pledge to the Flag, followed by the 4-H Pledge, then singing, whioh was led by Lillian Bonnell. The business 'lll6'Glllg was oondueted by the president and also 'the roll call. After the general part of the meeting there were from three to four demonstrations by different girls. Eavh girl had to give at least one local demonstration. At the close of the meeting we played games and the Junior Leader helped some of the girls with their projects. Anna Marie Bauman was the only Junior Leader. On June 6 there was initiation servives for the new members. Of course, all of them looked forward to that meeting Ui. In August the girls and boys had a party together in the gym. tin the 9th of July the girls had a weiner roast, at Dykeintan Park at Logansport, and went to the show afterwards The -t-H Cluh vamp was during the 291th to the 3lst of July but no one from Star tfity went. The girls had a food sale at Bill Stephens' in the middle of the summer. Hn July lit, at the Winamat- Christian Church, the county judging and demonstra- tion eontest was held. Margaret Bonnell was rhosen to represent this club in the demonstration contest and in it she plared second. Anyone r-ould be in the judging 1-ontest that wanted to. Joan Bauman went to Laporte for the district judging vontest in Clothing. Wilma Alice Wat-ltnitz went also to judge Canning. late in the year Margaret Bonnell went to North Judson to give a demonstra- tion tor the Mur-k Crop Show. The vounty fair of August 21 'to 24 was held at Winainatr, All girls who vom- pleted their projects took them to the State Fair. A public' dress revue for first year beginners on up, was held. The private dress revue was held in the morning. The purpose was to pit-li the girl who was to represent Pulaski County at the F'-tate Fair. Veneda tlalbreath and Anna Marie Baunia-n sent their dresses to the Stale Fair and ru-eived A on them. Last year we had a very nice club. This year we have already started our enrollment. There are as yet only about fifteen girls enrolled. It has decreased great- ly from last year's club, XVe hope to have a ltlttfpg eompletion and also in the future years to have a larger rlnb, with all girls completing theer work. our Home Ev teacher, Mrs. Moyer, will be our 4-H leader this year. VVe hope to have more parties this year, and a larger attendainee to the 4-H camp. The 4-ll motto is: Make the best better, and so this year we intend to im- prove.
