Ezirst graders are always bright eyed and eager on their first day of sailing on the good ship Knowledge. Among those smiling faces on our ship were--Pearl Allen,VirginiaCapper, Fred Corts, Gene Davis, Charles Doarmond, Dewey Johnson, Tom Phillies, Betty Marquis,Billy Wagner and Annabelle Staffeldt, i eading, writing, and rithmetie was our main mourseof sailing. Julia Phillips, lcle Lobo, Alma Wirick, Maude Buck and Grace Densborn piloted our boat and finally landed us safely in port for Juniov High Sehool. W E ventually some of our crew were lost at sea bu' new ones took their places. They were Erueeqhauser, Newton Rude, and Marie Haselby, Egmeoth Sailing was enjoyed by everyone and we decided to organize our class with Mrs. Boom- ershine as our sponsor. A president, Virginia Capper, and a vice-president, Fred Corts were ele- cted. We were beginning to feel very important at the prospect of entering high school. liealth and Hapoiness were not enjoyed by all of us, however. We can remember when all of us but four were out with influenza for about a week, We have had very high attendance otherwise and hope to for the rest of our high school years. new sailors were added to our crew in our n nth year. Those from Thornhnpe were--Estel Roush, Thelma Boyer, Dick Mangold, Donnia Lining, Walter Patrick, Iris Jones, Geneva Daily, and Carol Thompsfn. Those from Fairview were-Helen Kistler, and Jay Heed. Betty Budd, Doris Bender and Margaret Hayden entered, and Margaret Hayden I has withdrawn because of illness. Q verydne was pleased with the faculty ithis year. we were sorry to lose hr. ioplogle, our J spens'r, the second semester of this year, hut we think Mrs. Fitzpatrick is doing very fine work and hope she is nrt disapffinted in us. Our officers for this year were---Estel R ueh, presidentg Betty Marquis, vice-presidentg Pearl Allen, secretaryg ind Carol Themosvn, treasurer. ew is we slowly glide into port of rest un- til we set sail again this fell we wish to express our appreeiatiin to the faculty and our sponsors for all they have done fur us in this past year.

Patty Whitc At thc beginning of the your we had nothing in the treasury. ln order that we might have our Christmas party, wc sold some household articles which helped us out a lot. On April l6th, a skating party at Bull Lake was sponsored by us. The 7th and 9th grades help- ed us make arrangements. The whole highschool was invited. All of us thought that since this was our last year in the grades we should have a graduat- ion party. Plans were carried out accordingly. The eighth grade girls took Quito a liking to basket ball and formed two teams as follows: Blues ........ Patty White, Captain Greens ..... .Virginia Sutton, Captain The eighth grade boys liked softball. They organized a team. Joan Ann Compton and Danny Sajers were chosen to represent our class on the athlotic committee. They both helped take charge at noons. Jim Knobcl was chosen as a nonber ef the land-scoping commit- tee. Anna Marie Bauman attended the annual Short- horn banquet in Chicafo, December 4th. She enjoy- ed the trip and banquet vary much. Wo had twenty pupils in our class. Wo wcrc very sorry to have to lose Gordon Foreman and Dick Conn. Freddie Hcttinger,noved et tho beginning of the year to Thornhope, and in a few nonthsreturn- ed. 1. Nc wero proud to have the following pupils present every day this year: Patty White, Wilma A hacknitz, Denny Sayers. We were very proud to have thc following eighth grade members of the 4H Club complete thcir work this year: Arrole Gerlach, Danny Sayers, Jim Knebel, Marilyn Copper, Joan Ann Compton, Anna Mario Bauman, Wilma A. Wacknitz, and Veneda Gal- breath.
