1 MESSAGE TO THE SUPERINTENDENT Always before, this space has been Message from the Super- intendent. We really cannot find words for our reason for changing the title. We all have heartfelt appreciation to you, Mr. Teeter, for your attitude of helpfulness and encouragement as we have tried to make this year’s ROCKET the best ever. We realize that it must have been bothersome to you to have classes disturbed for pictures, but you never complained. You just did everything to help. When the business staff needed to go sell ads, you were willing and even eager to furnish transportation. We never heard a word of complaint, but you always had time to give a word of appreciation. We want you to know that we appreciate you.

1 955 ROCKET Published annually by students of STAR CITY HIGH SCHOOL STAR CITY. ARKANSAS ■ This year is The ROCKET’S fifteenth year, if you count the birthdays it leaped during World War II. Fifteen years ago ... The present high school building was used for the first time that year. Ann Bramlett, junior girl pictured above, was born that year—1939. Edward Hubbard, a new Star City teacher, was a seventh grader at Prescott Junior High. Clifford Shepard must have been absent the day pictures were made for the 1939- W ROCKET, because he couldn't find his picture in the eighth grade section or among the junior basketball letter men. The name contest for the new yearbook was won by Bertha Stikeleather, an aunt of Jeane Fish, '55 senior. Mrs. Woodrow Vick, '55 ROCKET advisor, was the sponsor of Star City's first yearbook during her first year of matrimony. Long live The ROCKET!

1955 DEDICATION m We, the staff of 1955, dedicate this ROCKET to our beloved teacher, Mr. W. A. Fish, whose wise counsel and deep sense of honor, loyalty, and fairness will ever he “a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. To dedicate this annual to him is too little for us to do in his honor, yet it is a small way in which all of us may have a share in thanking him for what his presence these years has added to the school and to the students' lives. So to you, Mr. Fish, we are happy to dedicate this edition of The ROCKET. For your unfailing and unselfish service you will always he remembered by the students of Star City High School.
