During our senior year, Janet Friedrichsen was home- ' o I hi? 5 ' , .J, O l'l.1dll.1llon lflllllll' Betty Ann Cain Marlyn H Lehrman Janet Ann Friedrichsen Martha Jean Veyer Donald Junior Hegarty Nancy Joye Portewlg Lucille Ann Kohrt Jacouellne Sue Story Shirley Marie wagner Class Motto Not Ended Just Begun Class Colors Blue and Silver Class Flower American Beauty Rose On Thursday, April 15, 1954, the nine seniors, with Mr and Mrs Hatfield, went to Chicago for their annual senior streamliner, arriving in Chicago at 8 30 While they were on the train, they ate breakfast in the dining car group took an interesting tour of Chicago, went shopping in the 'loop,' visited points of interest, and attended a thea ter in the evening They left for home at ll OO p m was a long day, but everyone had a good time Baccalaureate was held on Sunday, May 9 195k in the high school auditorium Mr Fred B Morris, pastor of the Methodist Church, delivered the address on the text The Invocation and Benedlction were given by Rev Robert E Bai ley, United Presbyterian Church pastor H s C E R1 by was the pianist Commencement exercises took place on Tuesday, May ll, 195D in the high school auditorium It marked the end of thirteen years of school for the nine Stanwood seniors Nancy Joye Portewlg gave the salutatory address, and Martha Jean Meyer gave the valedictory address The principal ad dress of the evening was delivered by Mr Maurice D Helser, Dean of Education at Iowa State College. He had much good advice for the graduating class. The presentation of the seniors was made by Mr. Hatfield, and Mr. Coppess acknow- ledged their acceptance. Rev. Bailey and Mr. Morris gave the Invocation and Benediction, while Mrs. Rigby was pianist for the occasion. On Thursday, May 13, l95U, class night was held in the auditorium. The senior class history, prophecy, and will were read by Marlyn Lehrman, Shirley Wagner, and Betty Cain, respectively. Awards were presented by various teachers at that time. Eighth grade graduation was also held in connec- tion with class night. The seniors wish to thank Mr. Bentley for all of the work he did on the annual. It was greatly appreciated!
